Personal Safety
If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe from another resident, or unknown individual, remove yourself from any direct contact, and report the incident to our leasing staff. Please include a description of the individual, a brief description of the event, and any unit number that may be associated with the individual. For any community-related issues, please call (480) 210 6004 and press 2 to be directed to a staff member.
Fire Safety
Regularly check and test smoke alarms, avoid overloading electrical outlets, and never leave cooking or heating equipment unattended. Please use the electric timer provided at move-in to charge your ebike for no more than two hours at a time.
Fire Response
Please follow these practices for responding to a potential fire on site:
- Stay Calm: If you hear a fire alarm or smell smoke, remain calm and do not panic. Try to exit the building immediately.
- Call 911: Once you are outside and in a safe location, call 911 to report the fire.
- Familiarize yourself with and follow the safety signage posted at all exits of your building.
- Exit the Building: If the fire is small and contained, you may be able to put it out with a fire extinguisher. However, if the fire is too large, get out of the building as quickly and safely as possible.
- Follow Evacuation Procedures: Follow the posted evacuation procedures located near the exits. Follow the main pathways to the nearest exit.
- Stay Low: If smoke is present, stay low to the ground where the air is cleaner.
- Check Doors: Before opening any doors, check them first with the back of your hand to see if they are hot. If they are hot, do not open them, as this could cause the fire to spread.
- Use Exits: Use the stairs, not the elevator, to exit the building. Elevators may malfunction during a fire.
- Do Not Return: Do not re-enter the building until the fire department or a member of the Culdesac team tells you it's safe to do so.
Smoke detectors
Our leasing staff will change the batteries of your smoke detector at move in to maintain the longevity of your smoke detector. It is your responsibility to check the battery every three months for your safety and the safety of others. To test the battery, hold the smoke detector button down for three seconds. You will hear a long beep if the battery is healthy, and a series of short beeps if the battery is low. If your battery is low, please text or call (480) 210 6004 option 3, or submit through your resident portal to create a maintenance ticket for your battery replacement.
